Councilmember At-Large Recount Results
The recount for the City of Ramsey Councilmember At-Large race following the August 11 Primary Election has been completed.
On Tuesday, August 18, six election judges hand-counted the ballots during the recount. Three ballots previously categorized as "Other" were determined to be votes for candidate Justin Dahl. Each of the three ballots contained a very light or faint mark at the top, bottom, or through the ballot oval for Mr. Dahl. Election judges determined the markings reflected votes for Mr. Dahl.
As a result of the recount:
- Justin Dahl's total increased from 1,286 to 1,289 votes.
- Kelly Muchowski's total remained unchanged at 1,301 votes.
- The number of ballots categorized as "Other" decreased by three.
The recount did not change the outcome of the Primary Election. Debra Musgrove and Kelly Muchowski remain the top two candidates and will advance to the November General Election.
The total cost to conduct the recount was $315.00.
The recount results will be formally canvassed by the Ramsey City Council on Wednesday, August 19, at 4:00 p.m. at Ramsey City Hall, in the Itasca Room (7550 Sunwood Dr NW, Ramsey, MN 55303).
