The Ramsey Police Department and the Ramsey Fire Department hold various events throughout the year for community members to attend, learn, and socialize with our public safety employees.

Car Seat Inspections

The Ramsey Police Department offers free car seat inspections to Ramsey residents. Inspections are approximately 45 minutes long and are by appointment only. To request an appointment, complete our online request form.

Our office is an active member of the Safe Kids Anoka County Coalition. The coalition typically hosts Car Seat Clinics monthly in various cities in Anoka County. The inspections are free but require an appointment. Visit Safe Kids Anoka County to learn about upcoming clinics and to request an appointment.

Drug Take Back

The Ramsey Police Department provides an ongoing Prescription Drug Take Back Program. We will accept unwanted prescription drugs from non-commercial, residential users only. No syringes, needles, or other hazardous materials are accepted. Participation in the program is free and anonymous. All prescriptions are disposed of with “no questions asked.”

Drop Off

Prescription drugs can be brought to the dropbox in the Police Department vestibule at 7550 Sunwood Drive NW in Ramsey, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

About the Program

The Prescription Drug Take Back initiative addresses a vital public health and safety issue. More than seven million Americans currently abuse prescription drugs, according to a 2009 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Survey. Each day, approximately 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time, according to the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home medicine cabinet.

File of Life

In an emergency, time is critical. The File of Life program provides vital medical information to emergency personnel during a medical emergency.

The program consists of a small red magnetic envelope hanging on your refrigerator’s front door. Inside the envelope, you place the completed medical questionnaire. When emergency responders arrive at your home during a medical emergency, they will retrieve the questionnaire. Information provided in the questionnaire will help emergency responders assess and provide appropriate care.

We offer Emergency Responder Stickers and Emergency Responder Sticker Information forms along with the File of Life. You can request five types of stickers for an occupant who may:

have autism or have special needs
be deaf or hearing impaired
have Dementia or Alzheimer’s
have a brain injury or PTSD
have diabetes

The Emergency Responder Stickers should be placed at the home’s entrance to alert Emergency Responders of a possible disability or medical emergency they may encounter at the residence. Complete the Emergency Responder Sticker Information Form and place it in the red File of Life envelope with the medical questionnaire.

The Ramsey Police Department offers Ramsey residents free File of Life packets and Emergency Responder Stickers. The File of Life packet includes a magnetic envelope, a medical card, and a File of Life sticker. Place this sticker at the home’s entrance (with the Emergency Responder Sticker, if applicable) to alert first responders that File of Life information is available. You can obtain the packets and stickers at the police department, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, during business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).

Cut a hole in ice on a lake and jump into the water? Yes please! Our police department staff will be jumping through a hole in the ice for a great cause.

Tip a Cop

Want to enjoy a tasty meal while supporting Special Olympics Minnesota? Our police department will be participating in “Tip-A-Cop” at Acapulco Restaurant in Ramsey. Officers will be volunteering their time to help Acapulco staff serve you while you dine. All tips our officers receive will be donated to Special Olympics. We hope to see you there!
