Building Permit Information

When is a building permit required?

The information provided is a summary of building, mechanical, and plumbing permit requirements, as well as emergency repair information, from MN Rules 1300.0120 and 1300.0215.

Septic System

New, Repair, Maintenance, Reporting, and Point of Sale

Ramsey residents/property owners with a septic system must have a licensed Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) service provider submit an MPCA Septic Tank Maintenance Reporting Form to the Inspections Department at least every 3 years.

The City of Ramsey has been awarded a Building Official Training (BOT) Municipal Grant from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, which provides competitive grants to municipalities seeking to establish training programs to help individuals become certified building officials.
