Commercial Construction Permits

The City of Ramsey uses the current Minnesota Building Code. All documents must be signed with a State of Minnesota registration number. Review will NOT start until the proper plans and specifications have been received.

Please review the following requirements, including the documents pertinent to your project for submittal.

• Plan Review Fee: The permit applicant will receive an email with the amount due. This amount will be a portion of the full plan review fee.
• SAC Information: Required for ALL Commercial/Institutional remodels/alterations when the building is connected to City Sewer and Water.
• Contractor License: All commercial building contractors/remodelers shall apply for a City of Ramsey contractor’s license. Apply for a Contractor License.

Plans: A set of building, architectural, structural and civil plans, signed by Licensed Professionals, drawn to scale, must include distances to property lines from all sides of the building(s). The plans shall include a Title Sheet, the Engineer's structural calculations, and design code analysis. Additional items may include a site plan, a certificate of survey, a landscape plan, a grading plan, soil testing, a special inspection list and an outdoor lighting plan with photometric data.

Special Inspection may be required. Please complete the Special Inspection Form and email it to permits@cityoframeymn.gov.
