Divisions
Patrol
Uniformed patrol officers are assigned to one of four patrol teams, each supervised by a Sergeant. Officers respond to 911 calls, enforce traffic laws, and investigate criminal activity.
Community Resource Officer
Community Resource Officers are licensed police officers who coordinate community programs in the City of Ramsey. They collaborate closely with citizens, business owners, and school administrators to foster a strong community connection.
Investigation
The Investigation Unit is responsible for investigating crimes committed within the City of Ramsey and preparing cases for the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. The investigators collaborate closely with other law enforcement agencies and work with Patrol to identify and apprehend major crime offenders, ensuring effective case resolution.
Drug Task Force
One officer is assigned to the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force. The task force is composed of officers from our office and the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Anoka, Blaine, Champlin, Coon Rapids, Columbia Heights, Fridley, and Maple Grove police departments.
Community Service Officer
Community Services Officers are unlicensed personnel who enforce code violations, oversee animal control, and ensure adherence to parking regulations. They also assist motorists in need and perform a variety of other non-sworn duties.
Crime Data Analyst
Provides intelligence and crime data to supervisors and command staff to inform decisions on resource deployment and operations.
Information Services
Police records are processed and managed by the Records/Information Services department. In addition to maintaining these records, Information Services is responsible for handling incoming calls and window traffic, offering clerical support to investigators, and providing public access to police data in accordance with Minnesota Data Practices. The Ramsey Police Department is part of the Anoka County-wide records system.

- Monday to Friday
- Closed on national holidays
- Open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Volunteers
- Police Explorers: A volunteer group for youth aged 14 to 21 years old.
- Police Reserves: A reserve officer's main role is to support the sworn patrol officers on the road and to participate in community events. The Reserve Unit is under the direct command of a Sergeant.
