Citizens' Academy

Ramsey Police Department Citizens' Academy

  • Academy Dates: September 10 to October 22, 2026
  • Day and Time: Thursdays, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
  • Where: Ramsey Police Department (7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, MN 55303)

Program Purpose

The Ramsey Police Citizens' Academy is a seven-week, intensive, interactive, and hands-on course. Each evening class lasts approximately three and a half hours. The academy aims to develop positive police/community relationships and expose participants to information and experiences that demonstrate our police operations.

Developing Partnerships & Relationships

We hope to develop partnerships with participants to strengthen police-community relationships. This academy is an opportunity to enhance communication and ongoing information sharing with participants and to reduce misunderstandings about police operations. We encourage participants to share their ideas on how to prevent and control crime in the community. In return, we hope participants will use their experiences in the academy to educate others.

Our officers are looking forward to working with and getting to know citizens outside of their normal law enforcement work environment. If you are willing to commit to becoming an involved citizen, we encourage you to accept this invitation to apply for the Ramsey Police Citizens’ Academy.   • Live or work in the City of Ramsey
  • Pass a background check

Program Purpose

Senior Citizens' Academy provides participants with a deeper understanding of the police department's history, structure, training, and statistics. This course covers various topics, including traffic safety, investigations, fraud prevention, and more. We are delighted to share valuable insights into law enforcement operations while offering essential prevention tips.
