Economic Development
The City of Ramsey has experienced solid and steady development over the past 20 years. This trend is expected to continue - Ramsey is the second fastest-growing City in Anoka County, with well over 1,000 acres of developable greenfield land near the U.S. Highway 10/Armstrong Interchange.
Ramsey boasts two unique developments:
- The COR is the City’s downtown development. This 300-plus+ acre development is a true, transit-oriented, mixed-use, walkable, urban development; and
- The cities of Ramsey and Anoka also share a 1,000-acre business park, which is home to several Fortune 500 operations and has created about 15,000 jobs.
Business Retention Visits
A healthy and vibrant local economy depends on the well-being of local businesses. Research shows existing businesses create 60% to 80% of all new jobs. The City of Ramsey has a Business Retention program that includes 30 visits to Ramsey businesses per year. The visit includes questions from a prepared survey seeking information on topics such as building size, employee headcount, types of products and services offered and future investment plans. A summary of data is shared with the EDA in an annual report. Details are kept confidential. Additional information about city projects, events and other opportunities is provided at the visit. If you are a business owner or manager in the City, you can request a visit.
