Garage Sale Trail

The Garage Sale Trail is a spring community event. The Trail has expanded to include Elk River. Giving garage sale enthusiasts a chance to browse through over a hundred sales in the span of a weekend. It's a great way to meet your neighbors, sell items you no longer need, find bargains, and have fun!

2026 Dates and Registration

  • Thursday, May 14–Saturday, May 16
  • Hours for individual sales may vary. Check the details for each sale before arriving by using the interactive map or the PDF list. 
  • Registration is now open. Sign up online by Monday, May 11, at noon. The map and sales list will be final upon registration closure. No changes or cancellations will be made.

Map and List of Sales

An interactive web-based map will be posted on this webpage approximately a week before the citywide sales begin. Click any sale dot to see its address and description. Use the arrow in the upper right-hand corner of the pop-up box to get Google Maps directions to the sale.

A PDF document will also be available for community members to download and print. A limited number of printed maps will be available at City Hall and the Public Works Facility.

Residents are encouraged to be creative and make their own sign(s). Show your community pride by helping to promote Ramsey’s Citywide Garage Sale.

The following organizations may offer pick-up, some for a small fee. Be sure to reach out ahead of time to coordinate your plans. 

Not everything can be donated — here’s how to dispose of unsold or unusable items responsibly.

If you have leftover items that are broken, damaged, or otherwise not accepted by donation centers, please use the following resources to recycle or dispose of them properly:

If you are planning a garage sale at your house, here are some tips to keep in mind.

  • Always have at least two people working on the task.
  • Lock the doors to your home and do not let shoppers into your house to try on clothes or use the bathroom—post a sign stating that a bathroom/changing area is not available.
  • Keep only a minimal amount of cash on site.
  • Keep the money on you at all times, not on a table. A fanny pack or money belt usually works well.
  • Keep your phone nearby to report any suspicious activity.
  • Do not accept checks.
  • Place expensive items near you.
  • Try to place all items outside of the garage and keep the garage door shut.
  • Be observant and wary of distractions.
  • Acknowledge all shoppers.
  • Do not advertise the sale as a "Moving Sale," which implies the house may be vacant for extended periods.
  • Do not answer questions about alarm systems and daytime/nighttime occupancy.
  • Do not buy or sell used car seats. 

City Ordinance allows two sales per residence each year, lasting no more than five days. Obtain permission before posting signs on others' property. For more info on garage sales and home safety, contact Ramsey Police at 763-427-6812.
