Transient Merchants License
Transient Merchants & Game Fair Vendors
At least 2-3 weeks prior to your event, appropriate licenses must be obtained.
Vendors who temporarily (60 days or less) sell goods within the City and occupy any structure, vacant lot, or property must obtain a license. Background checks are completed on each applicant. Documented permission from the property owner is required. All licenses are approved by the City Council prior to issuance. Failure to obtain a license may result in a misdemeanor and/or fine of up to $250.
What You Will Need to Apply
- License fee $350
- Background check fee $35
- Completed and signed the Request for Background Check Information form
- Color copy of Driver’s license or government-issued ID
- Certificate of workers’ compensation insurance
- Recent color photo for ID badge
- Documented permission from the property owner

All license applications must be approved by the City Council, which meets on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of the month. The application deadline is one week before the City Council meeting.
Transient Merchants parked outside of the Game Fair on residential properties are required to be licensed and will be strictly enforced. The deadline for 2026 Game Fair Transient Merchant applications is July 21, 2026, by 4:30 p.m.
Note: A valid Transient Merchant license does not guarantee the quality of the seller’s product, nor does the City of Ramsey endorse the product.
