April 24, 2025

A proposal for geotechnical services and topographic surveys was awarded to Bolton & Menk, Inc. for the Countryside Estates development. A letter was mailed to residents affected by this work. 

March 3, 2026

Tuesday, February 24, the Ramsey City Council awarded a construction contract to North Valley, Inc. for this project. Read the fourth update letter, project scope. 

January 14, 2026

On Tuesday, January 13, the City Council approved the plans and authorized bidding for the project. Read the third update letter, including a tentative schedule.

November 12, 2025

Please note that the public open house is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, at 5:30 p.m., in the Lake Itasca Room at City Hall.

November 5, 2025

A public open house will be held at City Hall for those affected by the upcoming project. Read the second update letter.

July 31, 2026

The contractor is proposed to begin placing topsoil in the disturbed boulevard areas on August 6 and 7. Raking out and hydroseeding is proposed to occur during the week of August 10.

July 17, 2026

The final lift of pavement was completed this week. Next week, topsoil corrections will be done.

July 8, 2026

Due to an equipment breakdown, the contractor has pushed back the placement of the final lift of new pavement. Paving is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 15, weather dependent.

July 1, 2026

The contractor is proposing to place the final lift of new pavement beginning Tuesday, July 7, weather dependent. Paving is anticipated to take 4 days to complete. Please make sure to park all vehicles in your driveway, and give the trucks, paver, and rollers plenty of space to complete their work. Although you can drive on the pavement once the rolling process is complete, please try to avoid sharp turns on the fresh pavement.

Following paving, the contractor will begin restoration activities, including irrigation repairs, backfilling disturbed boulevard areas with topsoil, hydroseeding with a residential turf seed mix, repairing damaged landscaping, and replacing mailboxes. Restoration is expected to take 2 to 3 weeks once it begins.

June 26, 2026

The contractor is currently working on driveway replacements. This work will continue into the week of June 29. After the July 4th holiday, the contractor will place the final lift of pavement, followed by topsoil and hydroseeding the disturbed boulevard. A firm date has not been set, but paving is anticipated to take 4 days.

June 18, 2026

During the week of June 15, the contractor placed the first lift of pavement. Starting Monday, June 22, the contractor will be replacing concrete driveways. If you have a concrete driveway, please have any vehicles you plan to use during the week parked on the street by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22. Read the sixth update letter.

June 5, 2026

Weather dependent, the contractor is proposed to finish hauling excess material on Monday, June 8. Following hauling, they will begin tolerancing the remaining gravel to prepare for paving. Tolerancing gravel is anticipated to take at least one week and extend into the week of June 15.
During the week of June 15, the contractor is anticipating placing the first lift of new pavement.

May 28, 2026

To date, the contractor has completed the reclamation of the existing pavement and aggregate base and installed the new street-crossing culverts. The contractor is currently working on removing driveway ends, which is anticipated to be completed by Friday, May 29.
Late next week, weather pending, the contractor will begin tolerancing the gravel and hauling out excess material. This process is anticipated to continue into the week of June 8.

May 15, 2026

Through May 15, the contractor has installed erosion control and has completed the removal of topsoil adjacent to the pavement.
During the week of May 18, the contractor proposes to reclaim (grind up) the existing pavement and aggregate base. Following reclamation, the contractor will compact the material, and the surface will feel similar to driving on a gravel road. Please be aware that there may be localized delays of several minutes as the equipment moves past driveways and adjacent streets.
Weather permitting, street culvert crossings are proposed for installation the week of May 25, following the Memorial Day holiday.

May 1, 2026

The contractor plans to begin installing erosion control on Wednesday, May 6. Please mark any sprinkler heads adjacent to the roadway by the end of the day on Tuesday, May 5.
